Kia’s all-electric EV6 and the versatile Telluride SUV have claimed top honors at the 2024 Winter Vehicle Awards, hosted by the New England Motor Press Association (NEMPA). The EV6 secured the title of Official Winter EV of the Year for the third consecutive year, while the Telluride was named Best Mid-Size SUV in the Winter Vehicle Awards category. These awards recognize vehicles that excel in New England’s harsh winter conditions, known for testing the durability and performance of even the toughest vehicles.

Kia EV6: Winter EV of the Year for the Third Time

The Kia EV6 continues to make waves, earning NEMPA’s Official Winter EV of the Year title for the third year in a row. According to NEMPA President Clifford Atiyeh, the EV6 stands out for its unique design and impressive performance, particularly with the GT model. He highlighted the vehicle’s accurate range estimates and standard heat pump, which make it an ideal choice for drivers needing reliable all-wheel drive performance during challenging winter months.

“The Kia EV6 handily won our NEMPA Official Winter EV of the Year for the third time,” said Atiyeh. “Its blend of unique style and performance, especially the GT, continues to impress.”

Kia Telluride: Best Mid-Size SUV in Winter Vehicle Awards

The Kia Telluride impressed NEMPA’s judges, earning the title of Best Mid-Size SUV in the Winter Vehicle Awards category. This recognition highlights the Telluride’s capability to handle rough winter conditions with ease. Known for its rugged X-Pro trim featuring all-terrain tires, the Telluride’s latest refresh offers enhanced off-road functionality while maintaining a refined and spacious interior. With its larger screens and modern features, the Telluride remains a top contender for families and adventurers alike.

“New Englanders have loved the Telluride since it came out five years ago,” said Atiyeh. “The new screens, the X-Pro model with the all-terrain tires, and a very handsome exterior—the Telluride is Kia’s best model by far.”

Rigorous Winter Testing

Both the EV6 and Telluride received their accolades after thorough testing by NEMPA members, who evaluated each vehicle’s performance in real-world winter conditions across Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. These rigorous tests ensure that the awarded vehicles deliver the durability and capability that New England drivers rely on throughout the colder months.

Steven Center, COO & EVP of Kia America, emphasized the significance of these awards, noting that New England winters are a true test of a vehicle’s performance. “The EV6 and Telluride each rise to the occasion as temperatures drop and overdeliver as pace-setters in their respective segments,” Center stated.

These awards underscore Kia’s dedication to producing vehicles that offer exceptional performance, durability, and comfort, no matter the weather conditions.
